Our Web Design Process
Many website owners have have had issues in the past with web designers who do not set clear expectations and thereby predictably miss deadlines and deliver a site that isn’t what the business owner had in mind. Here’s what you can expect from Condor Web upon engaging with us to build you a new web site:
Step 1: Collaboration
This usually happens within a week of our engaging with you to build your site. We meet with you and the people whose input you want (the smaller this group is the better – see below) to go over what design concepts you want for your business: modern, traditional, minimalist etc. We’ll define clear cut goals for the site in terms of what you hope it drives people to do. We also will look to you for examples of what you want and examples of what you don’t want. Based on this feedback we’ll agree on some design concepts that will go into creating your web site.
Step 2: The Design Process
We work with our design team to build at least 3 design mockups based on your input. We present these mock ups to you and from there begins the refinement process of narrowing the mockups down to one selected design and then making necessary tweaks (note: this rarely happens but in the event you aren’t satisfied with one of our mock ups, we’ll create more until you find one that satisfies you).
This design period is the most time consuming and labor intensive part of the process. It’s what can make a new website take as little as 3 weeks or as long as 2 months. For us, it’s really about building something that you are going to be thrilled about. Not satisfied. Not happy. But thrilled. One thing we recommend to make this process run as efficiently as possible, is to decide who on your team is going to have input in the site design. Doing this early on in the collaboration phase, while not to adding people to the mix during the process will save everyone a lot of time and make sure your web site is based on a well thought out vision rather than a potluck of flippant opinions.
Upon selecting a final mock up, making desired tweaks and then getting final approval from you, the design process is complete now you can sit back while we turn your design into an actual web site.
Step 3: Final Technical Tasks
Once you have selected your new website design, we code in the site into your CMS of choice (WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, Expression Engine, etc.) and finish with a 46 step checklist of technical tasks with include uploading all your content, create 301 redirects for your old URL structure, browser testing, setting up analytics and conversion tracking and on page SEO. After this we launch your new beautiful site and promote it on social media and through press releases.
